Dandruff is a skin problem, not a hair problem, that is produced due to the dry and greasy scalp, but it is harmless. White flakes of dead skin are produced that often falls on your shoulders and it can be embarrassing. It is harmless but can cause a sensation of itchiness and embarrassment too.

But there is nothing to worry about because it is an easily treatable problem. There are many ways to cure dandruff naturally. Some of the home remedies to treat dandruff are mentioned below:

  • Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil can cure many unpleasant hair conditions so you can add a few drops of oil to your shampoo and massage into your scalp for better results. It will definitely reduce dandruff as it has anti-microbial properties. Studies show that tea tree oil can fight the fungus that causes dandruff. Tea tree oil will improve itchiness and leave a soothing effect to your scalp.

  • Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is a tried and tested a cure for dandruff. Apply 4 to 6 tablespoons of coconut oil into your scalp and massage gently, wait for an hour or two and then shampoo like you normally do. You can also use a shampoo that already holds coconut oil in it. Coconut oil smells good and soothes your scalp by reducing dryness and itchiness and ultimately lessens dandruff.

  • Olive Oil:

Apply 2 to 3 tablespoon of olive oil onto your scalp and massage it. Cover your scalp and leave it for the night. This overnight treatment of olive oil will help retain moisture of your scalp and help in getting rid of dandruff.

  • Aloe Vera Gel:

Aloe Vera is added to cosmetics and lotions frequently to fight skin problems so it can also fight dandruff as it is a skin problem rather than a hair problem.

So apply a little aloe Vera gel into your scalp and leave it for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then rinse off and shampoo.   • Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is a successful home remedy against dandruff as it has an acidic pH which decreases the growth of fungi that causes dandruff. It gives prompt relief from irritation and dry scalp.

Mix apple cider vinegar with equal parts of water to dilute it. For example, if you’re taking half a cup of vinegar, mix it with a half cup of water. Apply it to your scalp and hair. Now wash it off with warm water.

  • Aspirin:

Aspirin contains salicylic acid that helps to exfoliate your scalp and removes scaling skin. Loosening flakes of skin on the scalp can be embarrassing but you can get rid of it by adding aspirin to your shampoo routine.

Crush 2 tablets of aspirin into a fine powder and add it to your normal shampoo. Apply it and leave for a couple of minutes and then rinse it off.

  • Salt:

The harshness and roughness of table salt can help for scrubbing out dandruff flakes from your scalp. Shake some table salt into your scalp from a salt shaker and massage it into your scalp by scrubbing and exfoliating all the dry, dead and flaky skin from your head. You’ll see all dandruff come out and then shampoo your hair properly and wash it off.

  • Lemon:

The acidity of lemons balance the pH of your scalp and treats dandruff. Lemons are easily available and have plenty of uses.

Squeeze some lemons and massage two tablespoons of it directly to your scalp and leave it for a few minutes to set in. Now take a tablespoon of lemon juice and add it to a cup of water and rinse your hair with this mixture. Reprise every day until you’re free from dandruff.

  • Garlic:

Garlic has antimicrobial properties that help against dandruff causing bacteria so use it onto your scalp and get rid of dandruff.

Rub some garlic onto your scalp and leave it for a few minutes. To avoid its pungent smell, mix it with honey and massage all over your scalp. Afterward, wash it with a shampoo like usual.

  • Mouth Wash:

Take a cup of green tea and add a few drops of peppermint essential oil and a teaspoon of vinegar. Now wet your hair and apply this mixture and massage for 5 minutes. Rinse your hair and shampoo normally.

  • Eucalyptus Leaves:

Eucalyptus inhibits the growth of microbes that cause dandruff and also removes itch from your scalp.

Take a handful of eucalyptus leaves and add it to a cup of hot water and soak it overnight. Next morning, make a paste of the leaves and apply it to your scalp. Use the water to rinse your hair. Leave it on your scalp for a couple of hours and then wash normally.

  • Yogurt:

Yogurt gives your hair a shiny and soft texture, it has antimicrobial agents that fight dandruff and help you get rid of it.

Apply the curd to your hair and scalp like a hair mask and leave until it dries. Now wash your hair with a shampoo.

  • Orange Peels:

Orange peels condition your scalp and reduce extra oils from your hair and fight against dandruff eventually.

Dry some orange peels and blend them smoothly. Add 2 to 3 tablespoon of lemon juice in it and apply this paste to your scalp and hair. Rinse with warm water and then wash your hair with normal shampoo.
